Centered City Yoga offers free lessons for renewable power signups

SALT LAKE CITY – Centered City Yoga (CCY) is offering three free yoga classes to anyone who signs up for two or more blocks of Rocky Mountain Power’s Blue Sky. It is making the same offer to existing Blue Sky customers who increase their purchase by two or more blocks.

The offer runs through Thanksgiving and the free classes can be used up until January 2006.

“With headlines reminding us just how ‘nonrenewable’ our fuel sources are, I jumped at the chance to actually use renewable energy,” said D’ana Baptiste, Centered City Yoga owner. “I am hoping to help get the word out on a form of power that we can all feel good about using. I also like the idea of cleaner air – all the better for us to breathe while we are doing yoga.”

Existing customers who increase their current purchase by one block will receive a certificate for one free yoga class. The certificates are valid until January 2006.

Rocky Mountain Power’s Blue Sky program gives customers a way to grow the demand for wind energy and take advantage of its environmental benefits. It is sold in 100-kilowatt-hour block increments for $1.95 each, in addition to a customer’s regular monthly electric bill.

People can sign up at the Utah Clean Energy booth this Saturday at the “The 9th and 9th Street Fair,” which runs Saturday, September 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 900 South and 900 East. Or sign up at Centered City Yoga, located at 918 East 900 South in Salt Lake City. Call 801.521.YOGA for more information.

Centered City already is doing its part to support clean energy as a champion-level Blue Sky partner. By buying 10 blocks of Blue Sky each month, the yoga center is reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 12 tons, which has the environmental benefit of planting nearly five acres of trees.

Blue Sky energy comes from wind power. Wind is an attractive form of energy generation because it helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Wind produces no air pollutants, wastewater, smog or acid rain. Blue Sky helps spur renewable power development and brings additional amounts of clean, renewable energy into the power system.
