Segment C - Mona to Oquirrh

Project overview

Northern Utah represents the fastest growing area in Utah and one of the major growth areas within the region. New transmission lines and substations are required to provide the additional capacity necessary to serve the growing electrical demand of customers and improve reliability and operational flexibility of the electrical system. These additional transmission facilities are also needed to prepare for future generation resources.

Rocky Mountain Power has proposed a project to establish a new, double circuit high voltage transmission line and two future substations in Utah. The line from the Mona substation near Mona, in Juab County, will go north to two future substations. The line will split and connect to Oquirrh substation located in West Jordan and to Terminal substation located in Salt Lake City. As part of the company’s long range planning, this project also includes the identification of a corridor for a future double circuit high voltage transmission line. This project may affect the areas around the communities of Cedar Fort, Eureka, Grantsville, Mona, Salt Lake City, South Jordan, Stockton, Tooele and West Jordan.

Additional information about the project

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will be preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) on the company’s right-of-way application for this project. That process began with public scoping meetings during Fall 2007. For more information on this process and scheduled public meetings, please see the   BLM Web site . Newsletters will be sent periodically to land owners in the project study area.
